Importance?

So I had a new thought a while ago. I thought, "No truth but your own truth is the truth to you." That thought was quickly followed by the old saying, "Truth is in the eyes of the beholder."
Both, I think, are true. Maybe I'll explain later.

Realizing my lack of originality so quickly this time angered me. Stupid anger, pointless anger, but I get that a lot. Whatever. It always impresses me how old sayings have a deeper, often misunderstood truth to them.

I quickly stopped and trying to think why it was so important to me that I think of new philosophy, new ways of thinking. This gradually led to asking why anything was important.

So let's say there's a dying man. Terminally ill. He has many close friends and loved ones. He is obviously important to them, correct?
But what makes that importance important?

It is important that he is important to them because if he dies they will be sad. This is important because it affects the mourners' personal lives. This is important because if their lives are badly affected, they could lose friends and/or their jobs. If they lose these things, they will become even more sad. This is important because...
Well.
You get the idea.
Eventually, however, there is no reason. It doesn't matter how long the string of importance is, eventually, there will be no reason.
That's funny, because according to that logic, this isn't important. And it's not important that it's not important. And so on.
So after several days, I realized that it doesn't matter that it's not important overall, but that doesn't matter. I can just let things be. Just revert to simplicity.
Why is it important whether God exists? It's not. But who cares? Let's have heated debate anyway.
Just do it, I suppose.
I think that's the outlook I'll have to take up.
